Metzger Family - September 2009

Last week, we had the blessing of all being together for a 24 hour period of time. Richard, Joanna, Ryan, and Lindy (along with Arturo) came for the week with Daniel and Claudia arriving on Friday. We were able to go to Duke Gardens on Friday night and take family pictures. On Saturday, we had a cook-out at Jenny and Abbey's house with some friends over. All in all, it was wonderful to be able to be with family, even though the time was short.

New York - Summer 2009

Last weekend, Jenny, Abbey, and Mandy took a quick trip to New York City for the wedding of Maria DeLeon and Danny Palmer. In the process, we got to have a nice, albeit quick, visit with Daniel and Claudia. We left on Thursday and arrived around 2:30 A.M. Friday morning. After eating breakfast/lunch at Bagel Boy, we rode the Staten Island Ferry. Then, we took the subway to Dylan's Candy Bar. It started raining really hard so we got soaking wet! After a quick visit to Times Square to get some t-shirts, we returned to Brooklyn. We ate dinner at 86 Noodles right down the street from Daniel and Claudia's apartment. The next day, we made a quick trip to Manhattan to help Claudia's brother Jose move to his new apartment. We hurridly cleaned up and went to the wedding and reception. Our former "bus kid", Melyssa Alegria" from Chicago was at Coney Island, so we had a quick visit with her. We then returned to the apartment where we ate New York style pizza, watched a movie, and visited with one another. Up at 5:00 in the morning, we traveled to Dundalk, Maryland, and attended Calvary Baptist Church. We arrived back in Durham around 7:00 - later than we anticipated because of traffic. It was a fun but quick trip!

Alaska 2009

In June, Dad and Mom got the opportunity to visit Arnie and Tomi Strong in Tenakee, Alaska. They flew to Juneau, and then took a seaplane to the island. They were there for a week and had a wonderful time! They spent their days fishing, shrimping, and playing croquet. They greatly enjoyed the beautiful scenery and local food.

Jenny and Abbey's House

It has been over a year now since Jenny and Abbey have moved into their new house. With lots of muscle, hard work, and help from friends, it finally became livable. As with any place of residence, there is still work to be done, but the house has proved to be a great blessing for us! We give God the glory!

Metzger-Lopez Wedding - June, 2008

This post is a little late in coming, but last summer we all had the opportunity to travel to Brooklyn, New York for the wedding of Daniel Metzger and Claudia Lopez. It was a wonderful wedding enjoyed by all. The ceremony was one of the sweetest wedding ceremonies. We are so glad to have Claudia as part of the Metzger clan. She makes a wonderful addition.

Summer Vacation 2009

In June, Dad, Mom, Jenny, Abbey, and Mandy had the opportunity to go to Washington to visit Richard, Joanna, Ryan, and Lindy. We flew into Portland, Oregon on Monday. On Tuesday, we visited three beautiful waterfalls - Wahkeena Falls, Multnomah Falls, and Horsetail Falls. It was a very enjoyable week spending time with family. On Friday night, Jenny and Abbey flew back to Durham. Dad and Mom flew up to Alaska on Saturday to spend a week with Arnie and Tomi Strong. Mandy spent the next week with Richard and Joanna.
